Overview
West Marden Farm, in the South Downs National Park, comprises one thousand acres of arable, grassland and woodland. It has been in our family since 1947 and has changed a great deal over the years.
Historically, the farm had a dairy, sheep and pigs employing ten full-time staff. Today, we solely produce combinable crops, growing winter wheat, winter oilseed rape and spring barley, employing just one fulltime member of staff.
Our approach encompasses agro-environmental schemes, with wild bird seed mixtures sown in field corners and six metre margins around the woodlands to protect and preserve birds, bees and other small creatures.
Situated in a downland village, grid reference SU7703113537, the farm runs to a height of 183 metres. On a clear day, the Isle of Wight is easily visible from the top of the farm. This special viewing area is easily reached by a footpath leading straight from the house.
